Headed to Hartford: Friday notes

If it’s not the A-lineup that’s going up to Trinity College tomorrow, it’s a pretty good group:

G: Gibson, Smith
D: Cornell, Mueller, MacKinnon, Quenneville, Rathgeb, Panico
F: Bellows, Hitchcock, Koivula, Turcotte, B.Holmstrom, J.Holmstrom, Dal Colle, Eansor, Ho-Sang, Sorkin, Kubiak, Hudson

With Worcester’s camp set to start Monday, it’s a chance for some guys to lay claim to spots, and a chance for some other guys to make a name.

Brent Thompson said Christopher Gibson starts, and though the plan is to get Jeremy Smith in, they’ll see how the game goes.

Everybody else skated afterward except the two players hurt in yesterday’s scrimmage. Matt Gaudreau is to be re-evaluated today, Thompson said, for a lower-body injury. Ivan Kosorenkov is day-to-day, upper.

The Rangers have made two large sets of cuts the past two days; see who if any of them make it into the lineup Saturday.

Ticket corner: Bridgeport is plugging Sunday 4-packs.

The Hurricanes announced plans to wear full Hartford Whalers uniforms for two games. A young man from Farmington reacted.

And RIP, Melvin Mason.
