Road game: Bridgeport at Charlotte II

  • Who, when, whatever: Bridgeport at Charlotte, Bojangles’ Coliseum, Wednesday, 7 p.m.
  • Watch: AHLTV pay-per-view
  • Listen: Mixlr audio
  • Twitters: Alan / the Sound Tigers / the Checkers
  • Box score: Sure (R: Faist, Schrader; L: Carnathan, T.Lyons).
  • What happened last night: Wilton beat Norwalk 4-2, blowing a 2-0 lead but regaining the edge 11 sec
  • COME on: I think it was late in the first period at SoNo when Alex Nedeljkovic did this to Travis St. Denis (with an assist to Roland McKeown) late in the third period at BoHANglays. Spectacular. That said, Bridgeport had to kill six penalties in the first two periods. At a refresh with about seven minutes left, the box had only two Sound Tigers with multiple shots: Seth Helgeson and Chris Casto. One guy joined them in the last seven minutes: Parker Wotherspoon. Bridgeport had 20 shots in all, and 12 came from defensemen, and nine came from those three defensemen. One early goal, off what looked like a couple of unfortunate-for-Bridgeport bounces (one to turn it over, one to give it right back to Aleksi Saarela), got it done for Charlotte. More brightly for the Sound Tigers, Christopher Gibson finally got his goals-against average under 3; he’d been chasing since giving up two early in the second period at Allentown on opening night. His save percentage is also five saves away from .900 for the first time since then. Bridgeport ran like this; AHL season debut for Mike Cornell, and Matt Gaudreau got back in, too, for Yannick Rathgeb and Ryan Hitchcock.
  • Meh, what else is going on: We will again mostly be out of touch.
