On Saturday’s 2-1 win at Wilkes-Barre: “It was arguably the best defensive effort our team had all year,” Brent Thompson said. “We only gave up, I think, 13 chances against. We kept things to the perimeter. We simplified our game. I thought overall it was a solid team game. I thought every guy competed. It was the kind of situation, it was a huge game if you look at the standings. We’re in a dogfight from here on out. Every game’s going to be a war. Guys have got to be prepared to battle and focus on the defensive side of the game.”
Belatedly noted the other night: That was Seth Helgeson’s second instigator this year Friday night. Three is a one-game suspension.
