Just like starting over: Friday notes

Been a while since I made it to Sound Tigers practice. Even longer since I was at the arena. Think the last visit was before the NHL deadline. Amazing.

Parker Wotherspoon was not on the ice, though he made an appearance at the bench in street clothes late in practice. Brent Thompson said it’s a nagging upper-body thing, “just a maintenance thing, want to make sure he gets checked out.” Chris Casto, on the other hand, seems ready to go after being injured last Friday. “His mobility’s fine,” Thompson said. “Having Cornell here is a good safety net for us; he played a really good game against Toronto. We’ll see. It’ll be a decision tomorrow.”

With Casto back, Bridgeport sent Ryan MacKinnon back to the Railers; MacKinnon didn’t play the one game he was up for, in Toronto. Worcester starts a three-in-three tonight at Manchester.

Two weekends of weird start times to come. Sunday’s game is at 5 p.m. (what with Bridgeport at Hershey; Springfield is actually off Saturday, though it plays tonight at Utica). Then next Saturday against Belleville is the annual 7:30 start time because of the Ladies of Virtue conference at the arena in the afternoon. Then the day after that is another Sunday at 5, what with the late start here and the Crunch coming in from Syracuse.

Prescout, while we’re at it. Had to look up Bridgeport’s result against Toronto just last weekend, which was mildly embarrassing for the last game they played. Have seen seven playoff hockey games since then. Kinda exhausted. But hey, it’ll end Tuesday, and then it’ll be lacrosse season.

Speaking of playoff games, 11 for Sacred Heart. Rubber match tonight for a trip to Buffalo. Emery Filmer will again be there for us. (RIT arrived as Bridgeport’s practice was winding down. Heard more “Ho-Sang”s from that corner.)

Repugnant. Thoughts with New Zealand.

And RIP, Mike Boguslawski and Rep. Ezequiel Santiago.
