Road game: Bridgeport at Hershey

  • Who, when, whatever: Bridgeport at Hershey, Giant Center, Saturday, 7 p.m.
  • Is the park open: No, but ZooAmerica is.
  • Watch: AHLTV pay-per-view
  • Listen: Mixlr audio
  • Twitters: Alan / the Sound Tigers / the Bears / Zack Fisch
  • Box score: Yes (R: Mayer, Reneau; L: Carnathan, Pomento).
  • Storyline: Bridgeport finally finishes a five-game road trip tonight. Its last home game was the day before the NHL trade deadline, is how long it’s been. Chris Casto looked like an option to return after one game off due to injury. A couple of other tweaks to last weekend’s lineup looked likely. We’ll see how they look. Meanwhile, Hershey came back to get a point last night against Toronto, so the Bears are four behind Bridgeport, though the Sound Tigers have a game in hand. Providence is six back of Bridgeport, though again, game in hand for the Sound Tigers. (Lehigh Valley now is only a tiebreaker ahead of Springfield. The T-birds have tonight off before they come to Bridgeport tomorrow. Bridgeport is eight behind Charlotte, who lost Janne Kuokkanen.) Bridgeport’s magic number for a playoff spot is 19.
  • Meh, what else is going on: Sacred Heart’s season ended heartbreakingly on a late goal and an empty-netter. Quite the turnaround season, and we’ll see if they can carry it forward, but man, after that Game-1 win… well. There is also a metric ton of high school basketball this weekend up at Mohegan Sun. Also, Alex Gallant took a ceremonial faceoff last night for the Wolves against…. Brett Gallant. Carve out 10 minutes to watch it (because you’ll want to watch it like 60 times).
  • Aren’t you supposed to be doing something else: Got some fun (I think, anyway) previews coming up Monday and Tuesday of the DI and DII championships. (GameTimeCT! Almost lacrosse season.)
  • RIP: Johnny Lam Jones.
  • If this were a regular blog post, what word or phrase would most likely follow “More” at this point: Good question. I’ll try to get the lineup up here but may be in and out at best otherwise.
