Checkers, Carpenter coming: Tuesday notes

Quick hit, as I’m Not Even Supposed To Be Here Today:

–The Islanders have signed Bobo Carpenter to a two-year contract that starts next year. He’s not in on an ATO yet while he tends to some things at school, but they do expect to bring him in. He’s the son of longtime NHLer Bobby Carpenter and the younger brother of American hero Alex Carpenter.

–Speaking of sons of NHLers who played college hockey in Boston, John Stevens sat out today; maintenance, said Brent Thompson. Everyone else was out there, including Mitch Vande Sompel, who missed the past couple of games but looked like he might be back in.

Andrew Ladd is out until training camp, the Islanders announced, with a torn ACL.

–Speaking of sons of former pros who played college hockey in Boston, Ridgefield’s Chad Krys signed with the Blackhawks yesterday. He’s headed for Rockford.

And RIP, Marty Noble, Cal Ramsey and Scott Walker.
