Who needs goalies: Wednesday notes

For a brief period this morning, Bridgeport had no fully-healthy, dressed-their-last-game goalies on the roster. Jeremy Smith practiced on the Island this morning, folks reported down there, to give Robin Lehner a day off. Bridgeport sent Mitch Gillam back to Worcester, which, with four games in five days to close the season, is basically playing for its playoff life tonight against Manchester. Presumably Christopher Gibson is OK, Smith returns as planned and everything’s more or less status quo by tomorrow morning.

The AHL and its teams announced their Man of the Year award winners, nominees for the Yanick Dupre Award for community and charity work. Bridgeport’s nominee is Ben Holmstrom. Utica’s is Stratford’s Jaime Sifers.

And the end of Quinnipiac’s season has brought the news in droves. Andrew Shortridge is off to San Jose, among other things, and Chase Priskie won’t be signing with the Capitals. Wonder if Priskie’s ol’ buddy Devon Toews might be checking in every so often.
