Schedule/moves: Wednesday notes

Let’s lead with a goalie bit: Brennan Klak broke it late last night, and the assorted other contract clearinghouses confirmed in the morning, that the Islanders have picked up goalie Jared Coreau on a one-year deal. Nothing wrong with depth in goal, as the Big Club and Sound Tigers have learned over the years. If everyone’s healthy, this could let Linus Soderstrom take the reins in Worcester and give Bridgeport a veteran tandem. If they’re not, well.

Coreau has played 193 AHL games to a .912 save percentage, though this year, split between San Diego and San Antonio, was played to an .889. He was with the Blues during their run to the Cup.

From Germany this Morning, Mike Sislo to Wolfsburg. Hoping for good Health for Him this coming Year.

And, the day planners are out. Bridgeport opens in Springfield on Oct. 5 and wraps things up the day before Easter, April 11, in Toronto (!). Three morning games again. No new opponents; New England-heavy again (12 games each against Providence, Hartford and Springfield; just four (!) against Charlotte). Nine three-in-threes, up one from last year. More on it later on.

Elsewhere, new boss in Charlotte (with brief local tie):

TEAM Old New
HFD Keith McCambridge (4/16)  —
CLE John Madden (5/29)  Mike Eaves (6/18)
SD Dallas Eakins (ANA, 6/17)  —
CHA Mike Vellucci (6/28)  Ryan Warsofsky (7/10)
WBS Clark Donatelli (6/28)  Mike Vellucci (6/28)

Interesting fact on the retiring Matt Cullen from the AHL.

Cheshire’s Luke Curadi, who played at Notre Dame-West Haven for a time, has a new job at the USHL.

And RIP, Rip Torn.
