He said it wasn’t 100 percent done at the end of the season, but it sure looked like Stephen Gionta was on the verge of a transition. This afternoon came the official word that it was done: Tampa Bay named Gionta to its pro scouting staff. Tip of cap to Gionta on a solid career; he was among Bridgeport’s most effective players in the playoff series. He didn’t want an injury-plagued 2017-18 to be the end, and it wasn’t.
Jared Waimon, certainly a big name in goaltending around here, also joins the Lightning as their goaltending scout.
