Conservation of Captains: McDonald returns

Kind of a perfect storm. Colin McDonald had a feeling his time in Lehigh was coming to an end last year. He’s got a new baby girl. His wife’s family is in Boston; his is local. He knows the area. He knows the coaches. C-Mac has returned to Bridgeport on an AHL contract. (There’s another kind of interesting reason coming to Bridgeport intrigued him.)

Possible once-and-future captain? He’d be the first for the Sound Tigers, to go with his once-and-future coach. (He said he has remained in touch with Brent Thompson and Eric Boguniecki.) A promotion for Kyle Burroughs to full-time ‘C’ would’ve been logical until, like, right this moment. See which way they go.

The Sound Tigers also re-signed goalie Evan Buitenhuis, who rejoins what at the moment are quite crowded creases between here and Worcester, and they signed former P-Bruin Tanner Pond and rookie J.D. Dudek out of Boston College.

Another contractual note: We are informed 13 and a half months later that Ryan Bourque’s contract was a two-year deal, so he is back. So with Bourque, McDonald, Seth Helgeson and Steve Bernier, that’s four veterans.
