HOME game: Hershey at Bridgeport

  • Who, when, whatever: Bears at Sound Tigers, Arena at Harbor Yard, 7 p.m.
  • Watch: AHLTV pay-per-view
  • Listen: Mixlr audio
  • Twitters: Alan / the Sound Tigers / the Bears / Zack Fisch
  • Box score: Yep (R: C.Syvret, Mayer; L: Hejna, Pincus)
  • Game notes: And they’re back… and they’re 2-9-1-0 in the past 12, getting no power plays in two of those games, including the last one. They’re suddenly 17 points out of a playoff spot. And suddenly after the all-star break, this season takes on a bit of a different look. But there is still lots to play for for all of them, beginning here against Hershey. Looks like Josh Ho-Sang gets back in for the first time since being hurt in Hershey almost four weeks ago. The lines are a bit mixed up. Still no Ryan Bourque, but Kyle Burroughs returns after missing the weekend before the break. Sebastian Aho went back up to the Islanders; Jakub Skarek, with Christopher Gibson back, was sent to Worcester. Meanwhile, a Sound Tigers trade for future considerations actually included future considerations: Bridgeport got Dylan Sadowy from Utica to complete the John Stevens trade. Sadowy was sent to Worcester. (Yanick Turcotte will be out awhile down there, Bill Ballou reports.)
  • Meh, what else is going on: Dave Andrews has, one last time, called upon the youth of the league to assemble next year in Laval. From the other beat, enjoyed doing this story on Hand goalie Eric Dillner (and check out Pete Paguaga’s video).
  • I feel like I should break this out: RIP, Bob Shane, last of the original Kingston Trio. If you’ve been around here a(long)while, you may remember a little of what that group means to me. A great voice. The classic is probably Scotch and Soda, which (a) they learned from Tom Seaver’s family and (b) supposedly Sinatra wouldn’t touch because Shane got it the first time. But there’s so much good stuff in that catalog. End of an era.
  • Tip of cap, Curtis Granderson.
  • RIP, Harry Harrison, Chris Doleman, John Andretti, Fred Silverman and the nine who died Sunday in the helicopter crash in Calabasas.
  • If this were a regular blog post, what word or phrase would most likely follow “More” at this point: Tomorrow. But if you would, a light poll: If you actually read/use those road-game posts, would you please leave a comment saying so? Wondering if they’re just leaking out to the ether or not.
  • Bridgeport scratches, like it’s an old-school pregameblog (presumed healthy unless noted): Soderstrom (lower), Hickey (lower), Wilde (upper), Bourque (upper), Fritz (lower), McDonald, Kubiak, Brown (lower), apparently Jobst.
