Community love: Monday (4/6) notes

Hi. Long time, etc. Hope you all are doing OK and riding this thing out as best you can.

A couple of actual hockey notes today: The AHL announced its Man of the Year nominees, and Bridgeport’s is Christopher Gibson. Gibson was part of a whole bunch of the Sound Tigers’ community initiatives, with hospital visits of a few sorts, toy drives, coat drives, food drives, work with the Southern Stars. Well-earned.

The ECHL’s Community Service Award went to Worcester’s Connor Doherty, the former Sacred Heart defenseman who went to camp with Bridgeport this year.

…..

We typically end here noting the passing of the prominent or interesting or somehow notable or, well, whoever catches our eye. It’s been almost four weeks (minus one standalone post), so the saved-up list is a little long (and probably not even that complete), but…

RIP, Earl Pomerantz, Roger Mayweather, Lyle Waggoner, Al Worden, Kenny Rogers, Lee Green, Mary Roman, Manu Dibango, Terrence McNally, Floyd Cardoz, Bill Bartholomay, Curly Neal, Mark Blum, John O’Leary, Jimmy Wynn, Ted Cox, Tom Coburn, Phil Phillips, Marlowe Stoudamire, Henry Brabham, Fr.
