There is a phenomenal picture taken by the Hubble Space Telescope of deep space at http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/hubble/science/xdf.html
It’s a 10-year compilation of Hubble images taken of one patch of the heavens in the constellation Formax. Called the Extreme Deep Field, or XDF, it is the deepest look astronomers have ever had into the Universe, revealing the most distant galaxies ever seen.
It is, as NASA said, a history of galaxies. And like all Hubble images, it is very beautiful. We are very lucky to have lived in the age of miracles and wonders that Hubble has given us. Long may it sail around above us, watching the heavens.
