Danbury housing authority sued

DANBURY—A lawsuit was filed today in Danbury Superior Court on behalf of 85-year-old Ruth Ahearn, a woman who was severely beaten and mauled during a robbery at the West Wooster Street senior housing complex on September 7, 2013.

The lawsuit states The Housing Authority of the City of Danbury, which owns and operates the senior housing complex where Ahearn resided, failed to provide its senior citizen residents with adequate security—ultimately enabling an armed criminal to enter the premises and rob and assault Ahearn in the middle of the night in her own home.

“This violent attack on Mrs. Ahearn easily could have been prevented,” said Joel T. Faxon of Stratton Faxon Trial Layers in New Haven, who filed the lawsuit on the elderly woman’s behalf.
