Doc Adams, reborn

Doc AdamsDaniel Lucius “Doc” Adams was the creator of the position of shortstop in baseball. and one of the men who drew up the original rules of the game and the dimensions of the diamond.

There are some who believe Adams _ who lived in Ridgefield after his baseball playing days were over – should be considered one of the true fathers of the modern game.

But for reasons that have  never been reasonably explained, he’s never been elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Now, his great-granddaughter is bringing his cause to Cooperstown, NY and the hall.

On Saturday, April 12, 2014,  Marjorie Adams, who lives in Mystic CT will bring Doc back to life with Hartford baseball historian Gary “Pops” O’Maxfield, in a presentation at the 19th Century Base Ball Conference of the Society for American Baseball Research

In the 25-minute educational piece, Ms. Adams will “interview” Doc in order to illuminate Doc Adams’ many contributions to the early game, in furtherance of his candidacy for induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
