If you long to land a catfish, Lake Kenosia may be the only spot in the area to bait your hook.
The State Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has chosen the lake as one of 24 in the state to be stocked with Channel catfish. It’s the only lake in the Greater Danbury area, and one of the two in Fairfield County to get the fish. The other is Beardsley Park Pond in Bridgeport.
The DEEP is stocking 17,000 Channel catfish in Connecticut ponds. It’s the eighth year of its catfish stocking program.
It is putting both adult and juvenile fish into state ponds, so that state anglers will be able to take catfish throughout the summer. The DEEP said some anglers have caught 5-pound catfish thanks to the program.
The Channel catfish is both the most abundant catfish species in the United States, and the most sought-after catfish by anglers.
