City firefighters are on-scene clearing an Osborne Street nursing home of smoke after an air unit on the four-story structure’s roof caught fire.

Firefighters responded to the Danbury Health Care Center shortly after noon Wednesday and quickly extinguished a blaze in a portion of the building’s HVAC system on its roof, according to scanner transmissions.

As of about 12:50 p.m., a small number of firefighters remained on scene to clear the building’s fourth floor of smoke.

Mayor Mark Boughton posted a picture of the scene to his Twitter account and said “all are safe.” A firefighter on-scene later requested an ambulance to the scene to evaluate a possible patient at the scene.
