A Danbury police officer found Harold Rodriguez, 24 , of Franklin Street in Danbury, was found slumped over the steering wheel of a white van stopped in the middle of West Street at about 9 p.m. Friday, according to police reports. The officer knocked on the van’s window but initially got no response from the man, police said.
According to the police report, Rodriguez eventually picked up his head and attempted to drive off, but the officer was able to put the van in park to prevent this. After Rodriguez failed field sobriety tests, police charged him with operating under the influence. Rodriguez was also charged with failure to submit to fingerprinting after being uncooperative during processing at the Danbury police station, police said.
Rodriguez was released Saturday on $5,000 bond with a court date of Nov. 26, according to police.
