Update: 5 p.m.
State Department of Energy and Environmental Protection officials will not release name of the woman found dead in Huntington Park until Friday pending notification of next of kin.
The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and state police were called to assist Bethel and Redding police just after noon Thursday for the search of an endangered missing woman in Huntington State Park.
Through the search that required the use of a helicopter and canine patrols, the woman was found dead, the victim of an apparent suicide, according to DEEP officials. The park is located in both Bethel and Redding.
Redding Police Chief Douglas Fuchs said his department was called to assist with the search, and all of the district schools were notified of added police activity in the area “but at no time was there any danger or threat to the public,.”
The DEEP has not yet released the identity of the woman.
