The day after Christmas, police detectectives were hunting for a man who stole a small amount of cash after passing a teller demanding money from the Savings Bank of Danbury branch in the Berkshire Shopping Plaza on Old Newtown Road.
Police were called late in the afternoon for what was described as an older, heavy-set white male who passed a note to a teller demanding cash. The robber did not display a weapon, and after receiving what the teller had in the drawer left the bank on foot, police said.
The amount taken was not specified, although police officials said it was a minimal amount.
As of 5 p.m., detectives were combing the plaza area searching for any suspicious vehicles or possible suspects.
Area police departments were also alerted.
