Newtown man facing weapon charges after Walmart incident

DANBURY – Police said a man was caught with a large knife last week after he fled a Walmart store with a stolen computer.

John Lipusz, 36, was seen at about 9 a.m. Friday “actively stealing a computer” while holding a knife at Walmart, 67 Newtown Road, police said. The man left the store but police stopped him down the road, according to the report.

Lipusz, of Wildcat Road, Newtown, was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, sixth-degree larceny, possession of a shoplifting device, failure to carry registration and insufficient insurance.

He’s being held on $15,000 bond, police said.
