Danbury man charged after suspicious weapon incident

DANBURY — A city man was arrested Wednesday after police said he was seen carrying a weapon and acting suspiciously on Beaver Brook Road.

Officers were called to the apartment for a report about a man walking in the parking lot and pointing what appeared to be a 9mm handgun at an empty vehicle, police said.

The caller also said the man, later identified as Eduardo Morais, was repeatedly leaving and re-entering his apartment, which is on the second floor, while holding the weapon, according to the report.

Morais, 25, then drove away before officers arrived. Police stopped his car on White Street and placed him under arrest on a breach of peace charge.

Police said a 1911 Airsoft pellet gun was later found in his apartment.

Morais was released on a promise to appear in court on June 17.
