Crash leads to New Fairfield man’s DUI arrest

NEW MILFORD — A 24-year-old New Fairfield man is facing drunken driving charges after crashing into a sign at The River Bistro on Kent Road Saturday.

Benjamin F. Howell, of Almargo Avenue, New Fairfield was arrested Saturday about 1:18 a.m. after New Milford Police responded to a motor vehicle crash at Kent Road and Boardman Road.

Howell was driving a 2001 green Toyota Sienna van north on Kent Road and went off the northbound side of the road, through the parking lot at The River Bistro, striking a sign, police said.

Howell failed a field sobriety test, police said, and was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and making a restricted turn.

He was released on $500 bond with a court date July 13 in Superior Court in Bantam.
