Llodra makes statement in advance of report’s release

NEWTOWN — First Selectwoman Pat Llodra took to her blog Monday morning to help brace town residents for the “body blows” headed their way, beginning with this afternoon’s release of a report on the Sandy Hook shootings investigation.

“Each of these happenings has the potential to feel like a body blow – it takes our breath away and we struggle to regain our balance,” she wrote, referring also to a judge’s decision on the release of 911 call recordings from the shooting. “No one experiences these events more deeply and more painfully than the families of the victims.”

Llodra also pointed to the “drip-drip-drip of leaked information” that has “plagued” the community for months and warned of the impending media blitz the town will likely receive on the one-year anniversary of the shootings on Dec. 14.

“We cannot change what happened at Sandy Hook School; we can only choose how we respond,” Llodra wrote, encouraging town residents to continue to visit the downtown area as they normally would despite any media presence.
