Welcome aboard Peter! I have been a big proponent for the past 2 years of not holding a convention but going straight to a primary. Why? because 2+ more months of GOP in-fighting leaves a financially depleted (unless you are McMahon) candidate with not much time to go on the attack against the opponent.
Mr. Lumaj is correct….. the convention is controlled by party insiders.
CT should do away with the convention and hold a primary in May instead of the convention… this way the people not the party choose the republican candidates.

If the party(ies) cede the conventions, they lose control.
Almost by definition a modern, conventional politician is a control freak, so, no, the establishment will keep calling the shots.
Just one among many problems with the way we do elections.
