“West Wing” creator Aaron Sorkin is reportedly one of the co-hosts of the Harvey Weinstein reception for President Obamain Westport tonight.
Sorkin’s latest show, “The Newsroom,” featured a segment Sunday night that showed the cable TV newscast covering the killing of Osama bin Laden. It was classic Sorkin — black humor laced with rapid-fire repartee leavened with policy wonkiness and spiced with intrigue, concluding with an elegaic swelling of orchestral strings signaling the populist lesson to remember. The segment ends with footage of Barack Obama addressing the nation the night special forces took out the terrorist leader. Credits roll over Obama’s voice, fading out.
