The jobs at WWE are all contractors, who get ZERO benefits

Am I missing something here? Why do we continue to twist the truth against WWE. Is Murphy alleging that WWE got tax credits illegally or didn’t actually do the work? I’m sure the State runs this program
by the book and if they were eligible for the program and did the work then they got the credit. Don’t take my word for it, check out the neutral “fact Check” group linke here from 2010: http://www.factcheck.org/2010/10/dscc-not-fighting-fair/

Aren’t we missing the point here by arguing over hearing v. meeting? We can “fact-check” till the cows come home with each side picking their best point. Fact is WWE has created real jobs and those employees get great health care and pay taxes. Maybe if they don’t believe that the state should go to their files and find out how much income tax the 600+ employees paid last year. If they don’t think these are “real” jobs then send the money back to them! Bet they won’t do that……

  5. John Bradford says:

Claiming that the WWE “stole” 10 million dollars of taxpayer money that were intended to create jobs is really a lie. Those film tax credits are used solely for the purpose of creating more jobs, something the WWE does on a consistent basis. Whether it’s vendors at the actual live events or the many employees it houses at its Stamford headquarters, WWE is in the business of creating more employment opportunities.

  6. Maria Lopez says:

WWE is providing entertainment to teens and not, as the statement says, “selling explicit sex and violence.” The show is rated TV-PG, by the way, which is more appropriate than most of what is on television.

  7. Josh Anselmo says:

Can’t we focus on the actual issues at hand? WWE has become an American institution for kids, like myself, to enjoy and bond over for the many years it’s been operating. I always loved it when I was younger and it seems to me that kids still love it now.

This sex and violence is a tired, recycled talking point that no one is buying or cares about. There were and are a lot worse on television than what WWE has aired. Hollywood markets sex and violence to children better than anyone. Once Chris Murphy and his mouthpieces denounce President Obama and the Democratic party for taking millions from Hollywood elites, perhaps then people will take their criticisms seriously. We all know how much money D’s receive from Hollywood elites but when it is convenient for them and helps their pockets, they have no problem taking money from people that truly market sex and violence. The press should be calling them out on the hypocrisy but of course they will not.

As a CT citizen, I would much rather have Chris Murphy attending committee hearing meetings than voting on bills he has most likely never read. At least at a hearing, you receive info to help make an informed decision or receive expert advice on how to fix problems.
