Some confusion arose in the early hours of Election Day, as a handful of people showed up to City Hall expecting to pull the lever for their chosen candidates. The only problem was that a number of them hadn’t previously registered to vote, while several others didn’t realize that they wouldn’t be able to vote in local races there. Instead, they were directed to polling places sprinkled across the city:
- Ward 1: Danbury High School – 43 Clapboard Ridge Road (School Gym, Beckerle Street Entrance)
- Ward 2: Pembroke School – 34 Pembroke Road (Gym)
- Ward 3: Broadview Middle School – 72 Hospital Ave. (Cafeteria)
- Ward 4: Shelter Rock School – 2 Crows Nest Lane (Gym)
- Ward 5: Danbury War Memorial – 1 Memorial Drive (Gym)
- Ward 6: Park Avenue School – 82 Park Ave. (Gym)
- Ward 7: Mill Ridge Intermediate School – 1 School Ridge Road (Gym)
One woman was sent away grumbling that she didn’t have time to run around town since she had to be at work.
