  1. Palin Smith says:

Jim Himes is hitting the sweet spot these days. He’s the Chris Shays of the Democrat Party in Connecticut.

Shays was a liberal Republican on social issues, but at one time a fiscal hawk. Shays is the perfect example of the need for term limits. He just out-stayed his welcome. He didn’t know when to hang up the cleats. If his ego had been tempered by his oath, he should have been helping to groom his replacement after 4 or 5 terms.

Jim Himes is as moderate a Democrat as you can find in the northeast. Much of his position on the issues is measured by his expertise at equivocation, however, and he has developed a “go for the jugular” campaign strategy that eviscerated the lightweight, Obsitnik, in 2012.

If Dan Debicella could forge his own character and stay out of Shay’s shadow, he might stand a chance of toppling Himes in 2014. Running as a moderate may garner Dan 45% of the vote but that is not a win. If, however, Debicella surprised everyone and ran more to the right, embracing the Right Principles, he would offer a most refreshing contrast from the duplicitous Congressman, Jim Himes.
