Dan needs to look outside the state for talented operative if he plans on willing. We cannot keep losing with the same faces, we need to get some talented folks in place. The fundraising number is not impressive at all considering Dan was planning on running for most of 2013 and held donations until q4 to make the haul look big. Q2 of 2014 will be telling. I think Dan needs to dump his staff and stop making the same mistakes of 2010 and 2012. Republicans need to see some new faces to be convinced there is going to be a real difference over the last 2 cycles and then the money will pour in.

Debicella lost in 2010 when he was a sitting State Senator and Himes was running for his first re-election in a major Tea Party year. Now Debicella is an ex-hedge fund lawyer who’s been out of the public spotlight, and two of the three major cities in the District have just elected Democratic mayors. Finally, Himes is well-stocked with cash and has an experienced campaign team.

I wouldn’t go to Vegas with Debicella this round (or ever).

Unfortunately, this article fails to mention the massive policy differences that lie between between Jim Himes and Dan Debicella. Not knowing very much about Dan Debicella, I recently took a look at his campaign website. What I found was that Debicella is far more in tune with the political platform of the tea party than the interests of the constituents he aspires to represent.

Perhaps most concerning are the policy issues Debicella fails to mention under his “issues” tab on his campaign website. Where does Debicella stand on women’s reproductive freedom, commonsense gun control legislation, or legislative efforts to combat climate change and preserve our environment. Does Debicella not consider these to be important issues that voters should consider when electing their representative in Washington? Or should voters only be informed of his opposition to the Affordable Care Act, legislation that has allowed approximately 3.1 million young adults (23,000 in Connecticut) to gain healthcare coverage by enabling them to stay on their parents plan.

I suppose voters could be comforted that Debicella has a “plan” that will bring healthcare costs down for the middle class, if only the link providing details about the mysterious plan worked.

On Congressman Jim Himes’ campaign website, voters can learn of the steps he has taken to protect veterans, students, women and seniors. His website provides in depth discussions of policy, making clear that he has spent 6 years dutifully representing the interests of his constituents. I hope that everyone will take a look at the candidates’ respective campaign websites, as a brief glance makes it very clear who we can trust to represent us in Washington, and who we can’t.

Himes has a more than 4-1 cash advantage and his fundraising will only pick up as we head into the election cycle. Debicella lost at the height of anti-Democrat feeling in the district back in 2010 and Himes nearly got 60% of the vote last election. I think Himes will be safe this go around.

It will be interesting to see if Debicella has a different campaign this time round. It will 3 times in a row with Pushkar involved. Same result with him 2 years in a row, Debicella should get some “change” and maybe then he will have a “hope”. CT R’s need winners not the same result with the same folks.
