Don’t expect the Advocate, or any Hearst papers, to Support a republican. Even if the Dems raise taxes and encourage Illegal Immigration, the Hearst papers will endorse Malloy. Done Deal.

“Fighting the label that he is commitment-phobic when its comes to debates and other unscripted encounters on the campaign trail — one given to him by his political opponents…”

Given to him by his political opponents??? No. Foley picked out that label himself, felt comfortable in it, and now he’s having it tailored.

His actions have spoken quite loudly, with a strategy of avoiding public discourse, lest anyone find out that he’s not standing up for anything but is instead clearly eager to “go along to get along”. Have you seen the photos and the videos of Foley at any unscripted public engagement? I sincerely feel bad for him. I’ve never seen anyone seeking public office that uncomfortable seeking public office.

Foley may have successfully taken his family fortunes and made himself even more fortunes in his Wall Street business ventures, but that does not make him qualified to lead a state. I applaud his business savvy, but what works on Wall Street does not necessarily translate to government.

A victory for Foley in 2014 guarantees us a Democrat governor in 2018. Fortunately, I don’t see that happening, because a campaign message of “Foley sucks less than Malloy” will not motivate voters. If Tom really wants to win, he needs to take a clear stand on issues and be very decisive about what he will do to fix the sorry mess we are in.
