I’m with Dr PK and FEDUP…I hope to escape from “Patheticut” ASAP, as well. Although I was born and raised in Stamford (I’m 59), I’m DONE with this city and this state.
Our steep downhill slide began in ’91, when Lowell Weicker, Jr.–heir to the Squibb pharmaceutical fortune–became governor and rammed the first broad-based state income tax down our throats, while eliminating the capital-gains tax for his buddies in Greenwich. John Rowland’s shenanigans (which allegedly resumed until earlier this year, when he was caught..again) compounded the mess, and Dan Malloy is the last nail in “Corrupticut’s” coffin.
Our state now ranks near the bottom of every survey for cost of living, tax burden, etc. It has become a political toxic-waste dump. Google the blog “Connecticut: Where Fun Comes to Die” and check out the comments there. Many other people feel this way, and we hope to see Connecticut fade in our rear-view mirrors for good.
Yes “FEDUP” I agree, in fact I just left CT a few months ago after spending 38 years I F’cked up CT. I now live in Florida and I cannot stress enough how much happier I am here than I ever was living in CT. Mainly the cost of living is considerably lower here, you don’t get crushed with obscenely high taxes and overpaying for goods and services like you do in CT. Overall the quality of life is far superior here by comparison. There is no sacrifice whatsoever in services here in Florida, in fact you get far more here as a resident than in CT. I am in my late 40’s with kids in college here, we all LOVE it here, and we often wonder why we waited so long to flee that cesspool state called CT. I will NEVER EVER return to CT ! If you do your research you’ll find that CT leads all other states having the greatest disparagey of residents fleeing CT versus new residents moving in to CT …., by a wide margin CT wins hands down. Bye bye CT, good riddance !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
