Dems swat Senate staffer who defended Rudy Giuliani

“Rudy has a point,” tweeted Chris Healy, the former state GOP chairman and now an upper-level state Senate staffer. “Our President has for 6 years either apologized or belittled the American Experience.”

Michael Mandell, executive director of the Democratic State Central Committee, weighs in and asks Senate Minority Leader Len Fasano, R-North Haven, for comment:

“Even as Rudy Giuliani has now started to walk back his ridiculous remarks questioning the President’s love for the United States, the public face of the Senate Republican caucus, Chris Healy, doubled down on them last night. As Republicans around the country distance themselves from the Mayor’s extreme comments, the only thing we’ve heard from the Senate Republicans is a top adviser embracing this position publicly. Where does Senator Fasano actually stand on this and is this the philosophy with which he leads his caucus?”
