Twelve years ago Dennis Elpern sounded the alarm…did anyone listen?

Cross post from HatCityBLOG

This December will mark four years since the passing of Danbury City Planning Director Dennis Elpern.

When it came to matters involving development in the city, Elpern was the first person at City Hall I would contact…Dennis was a good friend whom I still miss dearly.

Twelve years ago this month, the city’s planning department conducted a comprehensive community attitude survey that gauged the resident’s thoughts on a variety of issues of concern, with the most critical being the need for smart development.

Elpern presented the findings of the survey to the Planning Commission and gave a dire warning about the future of development in the city…and twelve years later, his dire warning still resonates today.
