Fairfield Museum Announces Photo Contest!

The Fairfield Museum and History Center is now accepting entries to the thirteenth annual IMAGES Juried Photography Show that celebrates the work of talented photographers in the region! Submissions will be accepted online through midnight, Sunday, February 28. The IMAGES 2021 Juried Photography Show provides an excellent opportunity for artists and photographers to connect with each other and with prominent collectors, gallery owners, and the public.

Professional, serious amateur and student photographers from Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts are invited to participate. The categories are Landscape, Portrait, Nature, Abstract, and Architecture. Two grand prize winners will be selected, one Professional/Serious Amateur and one Student. A jury of artists, photographers, and curators selects approximately 40 submitted photographs for exhibition in the IMAGES 2021 show, which will be on display at the Fairfield Museum and History Center from Saturday, April 17, 2021, through Sunday, June 6, 2021.

The selected photos will be shown alongside the remarkable work of this year’s Featured Photographer, Camille Seaman. IMAGES 2021 Featured Photographer, Camille Seaman, graduated in 1992 from the State University of New York at Purchase, where she studied photography. She believes in capturing photographs that articulate that humans are not separate from nature. Her photographs have been published in National Geographic Magazine, TIME, The New York Times Sunday Magazine, Newsweek, among many others. To learn more about Camille and her extraordinary work

There will be a special preview for the event IMAGES 2021 Juried Photography Show on Friday, April 16, 2021, at the Fairfield Museum for the announcement of IMAGES 2021 Best in Show awards, selected by a renowned jury made up of professionals from the field.  Please stay tuned for details about this special event.

The jury chooses one photograph as “Best in Show” from Professional/Serious Amateur category and one “Best in Show” from the Student category. Honorable mentions will also be given as the jury’s discretion. The Professional/Serious Amateur prize is their own show at a local gallery. The Student Grand Prize winner receives a professional portfolio review.

In addition, on Thursday, April 29th, Fairfield Museum will also host a special IMAGES 2021 Juried Photographer’s Program.
