UConn guard Shabazz Napier will wear a walking boot for the next six weeks to “relieve any stress in his right foot,” a team spokesperson said Friday.
Napier, who dealt with a nagging foot injury throughout the 2011-12 season, was experiencing what the UConn medical staff termed “symptomatic discomfort” in his right foot during tryouts for the Puerto Rican national team. Napier made the cut, but elected to withdraw from the team because of his injury. He’ll be re-evaluated when the boot comes off.
The rising junior is at home in Boston and will return to campus for the second session of summer school.
