STARTING OVER: UConn’s 68-game win streak against in-state schools ended Dec. 5 when the Huskies lost to Yale, 45-44. Coach Kevin Ollie is 2-1 in two-plus seasons vs. state schools, but has never coached against Central. Ollie is 3-0 against former Jim Calhoun assistants.
WINNING TOUCH: UConn is looking to go two games over .500 for the first time since opening the season 2-0. The Huskies are 2-4 in their last six games and have not posted consecutive wins since the opening two games of the Puerto Rico Tip-off.
THREE’S THE KEY: In five wins UConn has shot 30 percent or better on 3-point shots. In four losses the Huskies have been under 20 percent except for Duke (.250) and not made more than three attempts.
SCOUTING THE BLUE DEVILS: CCSU is led by former UConn assistant Howie Dickenman, who was on Calhoun’s staff when Ollie played there. Sophomore guard Matt Mobley leads the Blue Devils in scoring (18.8 ppg), and senior forward Faronte Drakeford (11.3) and sophomore guard Khalen Cumberlander (10.9) also in double digits.
