The 7th Annual Darien Chamber Going for Green Awards and Biz Mixer was a well-attended event hosted by the event Title Sponsor, TD Bank in Darien. Wonderful nibbles from Laura Boulton Events were relished by chamber members, prospective members, guests and contest winners.
Peter Saverine of STAR Inc. Lighting the Way accepted the first award of the evening which was a “Darien Going for Green Founders Certificate”. The idea for the event and the pledge was the brain child of Peter seven years ago.
The “Going For Green Business Award” was accepted Carol Smith on behalf of the DCA~Darien Thrift Shop.
“Darien Going For Green” poster contest runner up was DHS senior Amanda Bieler, who will be attending Boston College in the fall. Darien Going For Green Poster First Place winner was Bobby Fitzpatrick who was unable to attend. Dorine Bosler~DHS Graphic Arts Instructor had 23 students submitting wonderful posters to the contest this year. All posters may be viewed in the window at Fredric’s & Co. on Post Road and Corbin Drive.
All winners and Ms. Bosler received a “Living Air Purifier Plant” courtesy of Nielsen’s Florist and a “Darien Going For Green Certificate”. The student winners also received goodie bags that included donations from: Darien Single Stream Recycling, Darien Doughnut, Darien Chamber of Commerce, Darien Rowayton Bank and TD Bank.
Door prizes donated by TD Bank and the Darien Chamber were won by Gigi Barrett~Darien Chamber and Mark Rosenbloom~First County Bank. .
