Amann, the Only Announced Democratic Gubernatorial Hopeful, Watches the Scramble From the (Under-funded) Catbird Seat, As Bysiewicz Takes Stock

He may not have as much money in the bank as Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz or Dan Malloy, the former Stamford mayor, who both have exploratory committees for statewide office, which have been presumed to be governor. But with the logjam finally broken, Amann expects Bysiewicz to change her focus. If she does, maybe Amann should consider a couple stops at the casinos to further cash in.

“I predicted that Rell  doesn’t run for re-election; Dick Blumenthal does not run for governor, because either Dodd or Lieberman will drop out of the Senate; and Susan will not seek the nomination for governor because she doesn’t want a hard race,” he just told the Blogster.

Within the next few weeks, Amann will have a laser-surgery procedure at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York to clear up a throat problem that’s a vestige of his cancer from a few years back. “I just came from the doctors and they said I’m cancer-free,” he said, adding that he wants to go for that Barry White sound when he talks.

Bysiewicz replying the Amann late Friday morning, left room for possibly changing her focus from governor to attorney general: “I am the very clear front runner for governor as I explore. I visited my 113th town committee Wednesday night. We’ve been getting very good support wherever we go. I’m very encouraged how we’re doing. This week we had a seismic change in the landscape. I’ll be making a decision with my family shortly. I have only good things to say about Chris Dodd’s decision. I’m excited about Richard Blumenthal being on the ticket in 2010.”
