Foley Raises The Ante Beyond CT’s Public-Financing Program: His Warchest is Now Up to $11.38 million

Republican Tom Foley recently wrote his gubernatorial campaign some more whopping loans for the race’s endgame. The State Elections Enforcement Commission reports today that Foley wrote new checks totaling $4.55 million, on top of previous loans the Greenwich millionaire gave his campaign totaling $5.5 million. So he’s “loaned” his campaign – last week he said he had no intention of paying the money back, which state elections officials said in fine – $9,851,000. Total raised so far, with slightly more than a week left: $11.38 million. Democrat Dannel Malloy of Stamford, who is participating in the state’s voluntary public-financing program, is limited to about $8.5 million.
