Sitting with the Fairfield delegation, one who appears to at least initially be supporting Oz Griebel’s bid for governor, it would make sense that he would be a known quantity. After all, he certainly has the Republican star power behind him. His two nominators were Senate Minority Leader John McKinney from Fairfield, a rock star star among the state GOP who I was hoping would take a shot at Congress or statewide office himself, and former Congresswoman from the 5th district Nancy Johnson. Yet I’ve hard more than one delegate ask “Oz? Who is Oz?” Perhaps the Griebel campaign is hurt by the fact that he lacks a useful little bag to give away like his rivals.
And yes, I fully realize I am a dork for being enamored with GOP brass and the goings on that constitute the political under current taking place here in Connecticut as a 22 year old. I can’t help it though. I have a soft spot in my heart for political drama and campaign literature. And “(insert name here) for (insert position here)” water bottles.
