Long lines small price to vote for some

Monique Ivy of Brooklawn Avenue in Bridgeport waited inside the lobby of Central High School for 90 minutes before casting her vote due to a shortage of ballots at the polling location.

“A lot of people were angry and left,” she said. “But (the volunteers) were good about it, they walked up and down offering everyone pizza.”

Ivy, a black woman, emerged from the school at 7:15 pm on Election Day sporting an “I voted” sticker on her shirt.

“For me, people died for my right to vote. My forefathers went through a lot worse to cast their vote, so I was going to wait no matter what.”
