McMahon casts ballot in Greenwich

UPDATE — Even though it was clear who she was, Senate candidate Linda McMahon waited for an aide to grab her ID, which she had forgotten in the car, before casting her ballot at North Street School in Greenwich early this morning.

As she walked down the dark path to the polling place before 7 a.m., McMahon was greeted with shouts of “Linda! Linda!” from the assorted members of the town GOP, including state Sen. L. Scott Frantz, R-36th District, and state Rep. Livvy Floren, R-149th, both running for reelection.

“You’re going to do it!” Floren assured McMahon, giving her a big hug.

After the scramble for the ID (it didn’t look like poll workers asked for it) and voting in the school’s gym, McMahon addressed the huge pack of reporters that had begun trailing her as she started her day.

Asked about the latest polls, which still show Democratic Attorney General Richard Blumenthal ahead, McMahon said she thought they were “going in today just about dead even.”

“I feel good about the race,” McMahon said. “Our country really is making some big decisions today and voting for the kind of change we need.”

No WWE paraphernalia was spotted in the crowd, and Vince McMahon didn’t accompany his wife to vote.
