Gonzalez bowing out of the race to succeed McKinney

Fairfield resident Nelson Gonzalez, Republican candidate for the Connecticut state senate seat being vacated by Senate Minority Leader John McKinney, announced today that he is ending his campaign.

In her press briefing, the secretary of the state said that the GOP’s Chris Healy aruged to a judge that polls in Bridgeport should not stay open later, because voters could use photocopied ballots.

12 polling places will stay open

Himes campaign announced that 12 polling places will stay open until 10 p.m. They are: Park City, Longfellow, Beardsley, Reed, Central, Winthrop, Hallen, Black Rock, JFK, Hooker, Blackham and City

Time is on their side

Himes’ campaign spokeswoman Liz Kerr said specific polling places will remain open until 10 p.m. Will provide a list shortly of those polling places.

Don’t call them, they’ll call you

Mayor Finch says that if they get the okay to keep the Bridgeport polls open until 10  p.m., they will use the Reverse 911 system to notify Park City residents.

“Da plane, da plane”

The candidate for state senator in the 22nd district isn’t just relying on handshakes, flyers and advertisements. Trumbull resident David Pia apparently hired a plane to fly over the district, urging
