@Mike Fender: This whole tragedy is heart-wrenching, numbing and disgusting. Heart-wrenching is the loss of life, but not just any life, the life of innocent children who were of no threat to anyone, as well as adults who were committed to those children. Numbing is the knowledge that this was not a “healthy” person who was just mentally sick, but a defective person who was never “right” to begin with, so we cannot blame social malfunctions like violent media or broken homes. Disgusting is the inevitable attack on the Constitution by the usual parties who capitalize on these tragedies to forward their agendas every time some nutjob commits a high-profile attack using a firearm.

27 Americans are killed every day in drunk driving accidents. Should our government outlaw alchohol?

How many Americans die every day from illnesses related to legal smoking? Should our government outlaw tabacco?

Do not outlaw assault rifles and handguns. Drug cartels, gangs, and individual criminals will still have access to them. No one would be safe. Police always arrive after people have been killed.

More Americans should own legal handguns, including teachers. If a couple teachers fired at the killer, more children would be alive today.

LESS IS MORE in this case. Less guns legally owned by Americans means more and easier killings by the evil ones.

LOOK AT THE BIGGER PICTURE. If Americans would not be able to legally own assault weapons and multiple weapons, the US government could easily turn this country into a military state.

  6. Lewis B says:

I can not find any words but I am sorry for the families that are going thru this.

First the police have to find the facts of why this happened and they might never.

Next I listen to the people talk about the second amendment, need gun control laws
if memory services me right Washington DC has the strictest gun laws in the country and they still have killings.

Next lets get rid of cars United Stated Department of Transportation shows that anywhere from 45 to 252 people are KILLED IN ONE DAY they stated the average is 100 per day!!!

April 1995 168 Killed 19 under the age of 6 years old 680 Injured and no guns were used except a truck bomb Oklahoma City

Sept 11 2001 around 3,000 people dead from box cutters

Part of the problem is our legal system, I was told once by a professor that the US Constitution has no provisions for criminals. Next if any one has done jury duty and a person goes to trail and they have done this crime 6 times before you can’t count that against them only this time.

Lastly to all sit in your home one night think about a person trying to break into your home, take your watch on an average it takes the police, fire and EMS about 4 min to arrived but remember they still have to be dispatched or another 1 to 2 min.

    ♥ ~Losing You~ ♥

A gift for such a little while,
your loss just seems so wrong,
you should not have left before us,
it’s with loved ones you belong.

Do not judge a song by its duration
Nor by the number of its notes
Judge it by the richness of its contents
Sometimes those unfinished are among the most poignant?
Do not judge a song by its duration
Nor by the number of its notes
Judge it by the way it touches and lifts the soul
Sometimes those unfinished are among the most beautiful?
And when something has enriched your life
And when it?s melody lingers on in your heart.
    Is it unfinished?
    Or is it endless?
    Wishing You Peace and Serenity…

  8. Carlos S. says:

A feeling of despairing senselessness darkens the world today. My sorrowing heart goes out to all the suffering ones. May your pain be relieved and may your wounds be healed, as soon and as far as possible.

  9. Mike Fender says:

    To the mothers:

The Second Amendment has become one of the biggest threats to the right of Americans to Life and Liberty. These children died as sacrifice to the Second Amendment to the constitution of the United States. The constitution was not written in stone, the founders of the US gave the people a mechanism to change it as circumstances would change and parts of the constitution become obsolete and new previsions became necessary.

It is time the parents of American demanded a new amended to their constitution to protect their children from the misuse and abuse of the Second Amendment.

The Second Amendment is unnecessary. The US military and police agencies have more than enough weapons to protect the US from both internal and external threats and the need for civilians to do that job has long past. The NRA is a tool of the gun industry that like the drug cartels sells the agents of destruction to the American people. They use fear and paranoia to scare people into buying their product and the culture they profit from. The gun industry is hardly a not for profit organization. They are profit driven.

Real change will not come to the USA until Americans accept that the Second Amendment survives only to protect the gun industry. The tobacco industry wishes they had such an amendment in their arsenal to protect them from the lies they told a nation. If the Second Amendment was struck down tomorrow the world would not stop turning. Life would go on. Americans could then start the task of doing what is needed to protect their children from what happened at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Americans need to disarm became there is no way to know who will snap and who will pick up a legal gun and turn it on our children. We need to remove the ability for anyone to snuff out the lives of so many of our children so easily, so quickly and so permanently.

The Second Amendment has not improved the lives of Americans it has destroyed them, makes them fearful of each other and has made it easy for individuals to prey on our children.

The Second Amendment should be struck down and that would allow the work of cleaning up gun violence in the USA to begin. This is not an easy task and it is not a solution that will solve 100% of the problem but like any big mess you can’t clean it up and make a difference until you take the first step. The NRA and the gun industry will fight this with every dollar in their war chest and they will say they are doing it for Americans, They will call you crazy and they will point to flawed studies that support their arguments and they will attack good people and seek to destroy them to secure the profits for their industry. But Americans can say they are doing this for their children. We have seen that half measures do not work. Sometimes the simple answer is the best. The simple answer is we have to stop putting the profits of the gun industry before the safety of our children and our families.

It is time for the gun industry to stop hiding behind the Second Amendment. It is time for Americans to take America back.

  11. Mike Daniels says:

My heart breaks for these teachers, these children, their families, and their community. I lack the words to express the depth of my sorrow for all of them. My deepest condolences.

  12. Jerome Almon says:

    1) Despite what “experts” are saying, the tragedy could have been stopped once it began by the teachers if they knew 1 fact and took 2 actions upon realizing there was a gunman in the school.

    2) Despite what the “experts” are stating this situation was/is COMPLETELY avoidable. These mass shooters are actually serial killers that “bloomed to early”. That is they don’t have the patience of serial killers, but have the same make up. Facts about serial killers:
-America is 4.5% of the world’s population BUT 85% of the world’s serial killers.
-Serial killers are an American cultural export (where there is American TV and military bases the serial killers are created.
-90% of serial killers are perfectly SANE.
-Serial killers are not natural, but manufactured by the society, therefore completely avoidable.
Without addressing this issue along side with the ridiculous amount of guns in the US, these incidents will only grow geometrically. There are simple steps that can be taken to eliminate these shootings, but it requires us to look at the problem as Apple and Google (the people) would rather than the old, slow way IBM and Xerox (the politicians) would.

  16. Sara says:

So angry that some monster can take such precious lives, young or old, in a senseless, selfish, horrific act of violence. There are no words that can offer peace and solace to the families of the deceased, but my thoughts, prayers and deepest condolences are definitely with them all. I also pray for all the children, school staff members, first responders and anyone else who in some way witnessed first-hand the devastating scene on Friday. The nightmares will play over and over and their fears will be everlasting.

  17. Richard Christie says:

A so sorrow-filled event just ten days from Christmas. Our sincere prayers, tears and condolences for the victims and the families who are true victims of this tragedy. Life will go on for all of us and as we remember those lost be sure to give special attention, kindness and thanks to and for your own loved-ones as the victims’ families mourn.

  18. rebaz says:

    It’s really sad…. RIP.
    I can’t stop crying…

  19. Darryl Johnston says:

WAKE UP AMERICA. You are no longer living in the wild west. How many more of your children must die before you decide not to live your lives by the gun.

  20. Ken Douglas says:

Out of tragedy comes a shining star. This world desperately needs heroes. Real heroes, not comic book or Hollywood ones. Like this one. A true hero, who gave up her life protecting the children she had been entrusted to guide and develop and to teach for the future. They have that future now, because of her. If ever a civilian deserved a Congressional Medal Of Honour, it is Victoria Soto. Too bad only soldiers are are eligible. But then her medal will be all those kids who grow up and contribute to making a better world. As they undoubtedly will, having had a teacher like Victoria.

  21. Bonnie says:

Danbury News-Times “Most died at the very start of their young lives.”

When I think of Newtown, Connecticut I think of rivals.

New Milford and Newtown. Two towns in Western Connecticut, not far away, about the same size. We battled in the old Western Connecticut Conference throughout the ‘60’s. New Milford played our first varsity football game against Newtown. Our track team stomped theirs, they beat us in basketball.

At home I beat their number one tennis player my senior year, then lost to him on Newtown’s home court.

In the years since Newtown always had a not far away, close connection. My old boss lived in Newtown, but worked in New Milford.

For a number of years Charlene and I traveled to a Christmas tree farm in Newtown to cut out tree. We purposely waited to late in the day so we could see Newtown’s Christmas lights, then went home to see the lights on New Milford’s green.

I live on a ridge line, Hill and Plain Elementary lies below, on land that was once a dairy farm. I can see it from my house in the winter. Once a year I vote there, looking at the children’s school posters along they way.

It looks just like Newtown’s Sandy Hook Elementary. But its not – – not any longer. Not since one little boy said, “someone’s trying to kill us.”

The New Milford kids I see are safe, heading for Christmas holiday. The teachers committed to helping others are healthy, alive, at least for today.

When will our leaders say, “enough is enough.” When will they think more about the victims then getting re-elected?

The boneheads will always have excuses and lots of money.

Will their money and fussy headed thinking prevail once again?

When will a majority of congress say, “screw you,” not another innocent child?
