Members of the Newtown VFW are partnering with the VFW in Oklahoma City to deliver aid to the tornado victims, a spokeswoman for the Newtown post’s auxiliary said Tuesday morning.
“I have been working with Lynn Thompson, Adjutant of the Oklahoma City VFW, about how Newtown can help our fellow Americans in Oklahoma,” Donna Randle said in a prepared statement.
“Michael H. Devenitch, State Commander, Department of Oklahoma VFW, wrote to me this morning and said regarding our offer of help, “Thanks so much! The destruction is just is incredible! Your donations will help!”
“People and communities from all over the USA and the world reached out to us after 12-14, (and) this is just our small way of “paying the kindness forward’,” Randle said.
Here is the flyer with information on how you can help:
Our Oklahoma VFW brothers and sisters have asked for gift card donations to Walmart, Target, Home Depot or Lowe’s. These stores are located in both Connecticut and Oklahoma. The gift cards will give people the opportunity to purchase items they specifically need.
Gift cards can be dropped off at the Newtown VFW in an envelope marked “Oklahoma Support”. Checks can be made out to “Newtown VFW 308″and marked “Oklahoma” in the memo line. Cash and checks collected will be turned into gift cards. You may also mail your donations to:
VFW Post 308, 18 Tinkerfield Rd, Newtown, CT 06470
