The Interfaith Clergy Association of Westport and Weston will conduct a Candlelight Vigil on Saturday from 6:00-6:30 PM to commemorate the one year anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy.
Clergy of all faiths will gather together on Veterans Green in Westport for a series of readings and prayers as the community remembers the lives that were lost.
“This is an opportunity for us to come together, one year later, in prayer, reflection and hope,” said Rabbi Jeremy Wiederhorn of The Conservative Synagogue, and current President of the Interfaith Clergy Association. Last year, the Interfaith Clergy Association held a similar vigil in the days following the tragedy that was attended by several hundred members of the community.
In the event of inclement weather, the vigil will take place on the steps of Westport Town Hall.
