And last night the number of Sound Tigers who will play in the playoffs and also played for the Islanders this season grew to 16 (although the total number of games played in the NHL did still only go to 242). Overall there were 20 guys who played for both Bridgeport and New York this season when you add in Bouchard, Smith, Snow, and Colley.

Also, how about Wilkes-Barre’s depth at defense being bolstered by a rookie out of college? Sertich, Goligoski, or Sersen come to mind.

Since you’re a stats freak, we’re going to get a chance to test out the effect of guys having had a chance to play in the NHL during the season (especially late season) when coming down. If my math is right then we’ve got 14 guys on the roster who have played in the NHL this season and they will end up having played 242 games or so by tomorrow night.

A bunch of us ran into John Wiedeman the other night after the Islanders game and he brought up the importance of coming down from the NHL to AHL and how guys have told him that the change in speed causes them to see plays better and everything feels like it’s in slow motion. Sounded like a good theory to me.

Playoffs? (“PLAYOFFS?” –Jim Mora) I’m always excited about the playoffs. I’m the sick moron doing the Rangers-Flyers-Devils permutations last night. Lines? (“Lines? I HATE LINES!” –Eric Cartman) Pure speculation: Reunite Marjamaki-Koalska-Masse, reunite Bergenheim-Colliton-Nilsson, then take your pick for the other two. D-pairs could go several ways, and you might predict just as well with the hat and the slips of paper.

Hey Mike, excited about the playoffs yet? What’s the outlook on lines for Thursday’s game? I know it’s going to be a totally different team than what I saw on Friday.
