To be clearer on my end, Collins is on the list as a Group 2 player who wasn’t tendered a qualifying offer and is thus a UFA. Which, like Dubielewicz, confuses me (which doesn’t take much anymore), but doesn’t matter, ’cause he’d be unrestricted one way or another now.
FWIW, I’ve heard that same Collins-to-Germany rumor all summer, but when we spoke a couple of weeks ago, he said it wasn’t done. Not to say it hasn’t become done in the interim, but…
Collins isn’t on the NHL.com list as G2, he’s in the unrestricted category (and I gather he’s gone to Germany, but the team hasn’t officially announced it yet I don’t believe). As for Dubie, unless he’s lied on his birth certificate I can’t see how he’s not a G6 after his third season and under 28 games in goal for the big club. Who knows, but if he’s coming back then we’re a much better team then I figured we’d be next season.
Yep, he and Collins (the one that didn’t matter so much now) as G2 instead of G6 (played three years on an SPC, didn’t play the requisite NHL games). Something’s throwing me, and I didn’t get the call back I had hoped, and now I’m going away for two days. Anyone got the reasoning?
Oh, hang on, one of them is that Dubie is an RFA instead of a UFA. I thought he could be qualified, but then your list earlier this off-season said he was a UFA so I figured I must have misinterpreted the rules (not hard to do at all). Is there any way he might sign with the Islanders again? Obviously he wants to play more NHL games, but I’m sure he wouldn’t mind playing close to home (something I’m sure his wife wouldn’t mind either). I wish the Islanders could find some way to dump Snow, but his contract, age, and the cap seem to exclude that from happening.
Ok, I’m interested. What are your two things that you saw on the free agent list? I was disappointed with Godard, but otherwise I’d say it was pretty much what we were all expecting (at for the ex/current BST guys).
