The Nokelainen for Walter trade is a case of swapping two AHL players. Boston gave up on Walter and the Isles on Nokelainen, and realistically both players did not factor in the future of their organization. For Nokelainen, perhaps this will be the opportunity to stay healthy, rediscover his talents, and re-establish himself as a prospect. Bridgeport saw glimpses of the real ability he has and needs to consistently use.
Edit:The Ben Walter, as well as the Sean Bentiviglio moves were good ones. Garth Snow is finally getting rid of some of the “dead wood” on the Sound Tigers. The Rourke & Berry deals to Springfield were key. Both had little chance of being called up, played with little passion, both liabilities on the ice and basically collected a paycheck. Both are nice guys, but no loss on the ice here folks! This season it’s key the Sound Tigers put a competitive, succesful & entertaining team on the ice, especially with ticket prices raised. With the revamped lineup (including 2 class goalies), this team can be one to be reckoned with. The Calder Cup looks more in reach with each passing day!
Edit2: I’m happy for Tom Grace, but sad to see him go. He is truly one of the most professional and knowledgeable people I’ve ever met in the hockey world. He prepared for each game meticulously and had a unique style in the booth while broadcasting – (standing and VERY animated).
All life’s best to Tom and thanks!!!!
